Our Story Began In Ilwaco Washington…
Purly Shell Fiber Arts recognizes that we live and work in unceded Chinook territory. We support our indigenous communities and are committed toward working with them to restore their rights, including federal recognition.”
where Heather’s mom Bev was born. Raised traveling between Pacific, WA, and Naselle, WA, her heart always belonged to the coast. It was only after years of travel, completing our own version of Lewis and Clark’s Journey in reverse, that we were able to return here and follow this dream. To build a place where fiber art enthusiasts of all kinds could sit and relax, be inspired by color, and unleash their creativity. A place we could spin, crochet and knit, while watching the boats sailing in and out of the port, and be at peace.
Our Story Continues in Ilwaco… founded in 2014, after years of researching and planning. We strive to provide unique and creative yarns and fibers to our family of fiber artists. Often breaking the mold of a traditional fiber or yarn shop we are also a studio, an open learning environment, and a safe place to be creative while bending or breaking all the rules! Focusing on American-made yarns, small companies, hand-dyers, and inspiring artisans, we have an eclectic feel to the high quality and unique products we carry.

Heather – Owner
Heather started spinning fiber when she was 15 years old. Buying her first spinning wheel in Missouri. She quickly mastered the skill though she still prides herself on being an artistic spinner first and foremost. She taught herself to knit in her 20’s, and also weaves but spinning is her primary fiber love.
Her skills in the fiber world ranged to the animal side, as she runs Oceanside Angoras. Oceanside Angoras has been a top show rabbitry of English, Satin and French with multiple national wins. The shop keeps her too busy to show much anymore but her bunnies and other fiber connections help us keep the largest unique selection of non-commercial blend roving available. Her other talents are dyeing one of a kind fibers, and of course spreading the love for spinning by doing demonstrations, classes, and lessons.

Danielle – Partner
Danielle has been crocheting and spinning for 15 years. She came from the sheep world, and wool is her passion. Growing up in central Oregon, she raised sheep and as an adult started spinning her own fleece. She is our wool liason and goes on shearing trips, along with judging wool shows, and running angora wool, skein and garment competitions. Together with Heather, she makes up the Purly Shell Pirates at many fiber festivals and demonstrations. In 2021 Danielle dove back into sheep and now runs a herd of Blue Faced Leicester and Corriedale sheep on her small farm.
Danielle is also a crochet artist and designer. Her patterns are D Wallace Designs and can be found here or on Etsy.
Danielle Loves to teach crochet, and knitting, and is an extremely accomplished spinner. She offers classes through the shop and at fiber festivals.

Stacie – Enthusiast in Chief
Stacie grew up sleeping under her great granny’s beautiful afghans, and taught herself to crochet in her teens, from an old book she found at a thrift store. In previous lives, she has been a singer, a farmer, and a cheesemaker, but fiber arts are her true love.
Stacie teaches needle felting, does dyeing, keeps us organized, and engages in our squirrel brains. She never tells us we are too crazy and we love her for that.
Stacie lives in Long Beach with her 4 kids, husband and 3 dogs plus a few cats.

Bev – Owner
Bev has been crocheting since the age of 11, taught by a neighbor. Professionally she’s been a teacher, owned a preschool, and worked in the computer industry. Purly Shell is only possible due to her tenacity. She works at the shop in her spare time even now. Bev enjoys all crafts including crochet, knitting, and more. She’s always up for a talk too.

Devin – Designer
Devin graduated from Ilwaco High School. All the shelves, and so much more was assembled by Devin. Now she provides us tech support and unlike Stacie will tell us when our ideas are too crazy.
In her real life Devin knits, works at Nintendo and enjoys the city life in Redmond WA.
